The 2024 FedEx Express / JA International Trade Challenge Asia Pacific Finals

The FedEx / JA International Trade Challenge Asia Pacific Finals 2024 marks its 18th year! That’s 18 years of nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and business skills of students through the International Trade Challenge, preparing young people to become tomorrow’s leader in a global economy. Over the years, nearly 50,000 students from more than 4,800 schools, supported by more than 2,000 FedEx volunteers, across 10 markets in Asia Pacific, have developed their own market entry strategies through this program.

Prizes

This year’s winners of the FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge are in for a treat! Each student will take home a trophy, certificate of achievement, and one of these coveted prizes:

Here are the 60 Asia Pacific Finalists from Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Entrepreneur Spotlight

To inspire participants on the journey of an entrepreneur, this year, the Entrepreneur Spotlight will be on Otto Park, the founder of Honpo Singapore. A seasoned business leader with a successful retail brand, Otto runs one of the fastest growing home decor brands in Southeast Asia. His inspiring story and valuable insights on entrepreneurship and innovation will undoubtedly motivate and empower our young participants.​

1. Team Name: Team ONE

  • Members: Rysa Sumalinog (Philippines) and Clarisse Chee (Singapore)

  • Product: Eco-kilim

  • Description: Eco-kilim is an eco-conscious reinterpretation of the traditional Turkish kilim. With its fabric crafted from bread waste and dye extracted from vegetable waste, this unique carpet embodies sustainability without compromising on style. After disposal, Eco-kilim can be returned to the soil and act as fertiliser for plants. 
     

​​2. Team Name: Circuvate

  • Member: Wesley Ng Yu De (Singapore)

  • Product: Free Tabak

  • Description: Free Tabak aims to promote the use of biodegradable plates in Turkey through producing a more durable and stronger biodegradable plate for use in football stadiums, making this plate free through funding from selling advertising spaces on the plates.


3. Team Name: Synergetix

  • Members: Kate Celine Bacasmas (Philippines) and Misaki Ozawa (Japan)

  • Product: FertiliTEA    

  • Description: FertiliTEA is made from corn fibers and preserves tea flavor. Each bag contains thyme seeds, a popular Turkish spice, nourished by used black tea leaves. With a biodegradable hemp string and a pyramid shape, the entire bag can be planted, making your tea experience eco-friendly and sustainable.


4. Team Name: CJ

  • Members: Cheryl Lim Xin Yi (Singapore) and Julia Jasmine Binti Jufri (Malaysia)

  • Product: Clean Joys

  • Description: A sustainable alternative to single-use plastic packaging for sweets, made from locally harvested seaweed.
     

5. Team Name: Circular Mint²

  • Members: Cheong Chun Kit (Malaysia) and Nguyen Xuan Binh Minh (Vietnam)

  • Product: Plastilla    

  • Description: Embrace the future of sustainable living with Plastila Rugs, an innovative solution that breathes new life into discarded plastic waste. Crafted with care and a commitment to the environment, our rugs are more than just a decorative piece – they are a statement of conscious living.
     

6. Team Name: Full-circle

  • Members: Maria Fujisawa (Japan) and Jasmine Ka Yi Yin (Hong Kong SAR)

  • Product: Tam Daire    

  • Description: Tam Daire, meaning full-circle in Turkish, is a sustainable packaging solution that repurposes corn-husk, an agricultural waste byproduct, leveraging its temperature insulating and humidity retaining properties to preserve the freshness of fresh produce during transport, preventing post-harvest loss and extending its shelf life at a highly accessible price point.
