Celebrating 10 years of Cha-Ching and 2 million Filipino learners empowered through financial literacy

On June 16, 2026, Prudence Foundation and Pru Life UK, together with Junior Achievement of the Philippines, JA Asia Pacific, and the Department of Education, celebrated a major milestone in youth financial education through the event, “Empowering 2M Lives: A Decade of Financial Literacy in the Philippines.”

The celebration marked the 10th anniversary of the Cha-Ching Financial Literacy Program in the Philippines and its achievement of reaching more than 2 million Filipino learners nationwide. Over the past decade, Cha-Ching has helped young people build essential money management skills, including earning, saving, spending, and donating, empowering them to make informed financial decisions from an early age.

A Decade of Partnership for Financial Literacy in the Philippines

The milestone event brought together leaders, partners, educators, and advocates who have played an important role in expanding access to financial literacy education across the country.

Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Krishna C. Alejandrino, Executive Director of JA Philippines, Pia Warburton, Senior Manager of Prudence Foundation, representatives from Prudence Foundation and Pru Life UK, officials from the Office of the President and the Department of Education Central Office, DepEd Regional Partners, Teacher Champions, school leaders, and education advocates from across the Philippines.

The program opened with remarks from Atty. Calvin Kohchet-Chua, Senior Vice President and Chief Legal, Government Relations, and Sustainability Officer of Pru Life UK. This was followed by a special message of support from Asec. Dexter Galban of the Department of Education, highlighting the importance of equipping learners with practical financial knowledge and life skills.

A stakeholder panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Vivek Kumar, President and CEO of JA Asia Pacific, invited partners to reflect on the impact, legacy, and future of the Cha-Ching Financial Literacy Program. The discussion underscored how collaboration among the private sector, education institutions, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations can create lasting impact for young people and their communities.

Recognizing Educators and Regional Champions

A key part of the celebration was the recognition of the educators and regional partners who have helped bring financial literacy education to learners across the country.

The event honored DepEd Regional Partners from Region V, Region VI, Region VII, Region VIII, Region X, Region XII, Region XIII, and the Negros Island Region, as well as Regional Coordinators, Teacher Champions, and education leaders whose dedication has been instrumental in expanding the reach and impact of Cha-Ching.

Special recognition was also given to the Top 15 Cha-Ching Financial Accreditation Teachers for their outstanding commitment to advancing financial literacy in their schools and communities. Their leadership has helped ensure that more students gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to manage money responsibly and plan for their futures.

JA Asia Pacific, Prudence Foundation, Pru Life UK, JA Philippines, and the Department of Education also extended their appreciation to the Schools Division Office of Mandaluyong and Senate President Neptali A. Gonzales Integrated School for warmly hosting this milestone celebration.

The event concluded with inspiring closing remarks from Nicole Ngeow, Executive Director of Prudence Foundation, who reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to empowering young people through financial education and supporting the development of more resilient communities.

As Cha-Ching celebrates 10 years in the Philippines, this milestone honors the collective efforts of educators, parents, partners, and advocates who have made the program’s journey possible. Reaching more than 2 million Filipino learners is not only a testament to the power of partnership, but also a reminder of the potential unlocked when young people are equipped with practical financial skills for life.
